Save the Children is actively engaged in Literacy Boost and other initiatives to promote reading and education for children globally. Mango Languages (La County Library)

Mango Languages is a leading digital language-learning platform used by schools, libraries, and organizations to provide conversational proficiency in over 70 world languages. It is specifically designed to simulate the way humans naturally learn a language through immersion and context.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF)

To promote literacy and motivate children to read by providing new books to create home libraries for underserved children in Southern California.

Gale Courses (La County Library)

Each course consists of 12 lessons, released twice a week (Wednesdays and Fridays). Every course is led by a professional instructor who facilitates a discussion board, answering student questions and providing expert guidance. To successfully complete a course and receive a Certificate of Completion, students must pass a final exam at the end of the six weeks.

United Way of Greater Los Angeles

United Ways of Greater Los Angeles aims for “functional zero” homelessness and addressing wealth and education disparities in marginalized communities, particularly in Southeast Los Angeles. Its educational initiatives target youth from birth to young adulthood, supporting California’s goal for 3rd graders to read at grade level, and partnering with local organizations to enhance school readiness and early literacy in under-resourced neighborhoods.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

Big Brothers ande Big Sisters mission is to “ignite the power and promise of youth” through structured, one-to-one mentoring. Its evidence-based programs are designed to improve academic success, decrease risky behaviors (like substance use and delinquency), and enhance self-confidence.

Universal Class (LA County Library)

Universal Class is a premier online continuing education platform that offers over 600 self-paced courses led by real instructors. It is designed for lifelong learners in the SELA region who want to gain new skills, pursue hobbies, or earn professional credits without the high cost of traditional college.

First Book Netwok

First Book Network is the largest online community of educators and program leaders serving children in need. Its primary goal is to remove barriers to quality education by providing brand-new books, educational materials, and basic essentials to under-resourced communities.

Career Online High School (LA County Library)

Career Online High School is a specialized adult education program that allows residents to earn an accredited high school diploma and a career certificate simultaneously. It is designed specifically for adults who did not complete traditional high school and need a flexible, online path to graduation.
